MEDAN – Outbreaks of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in Indonesia require all activities to be carried out from home. This is in accordance with the directions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Education and Culture that it is time to work from home, learn from home and worship at home. This was done to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia. Unimed Rector Dr. Syamsul Gultom, SKM., M. Kes, also issued a circular letter which one of the points is conducting a final thesis examination, thesis, dissertation attended by examiners or students being tested, or conducted online.
Responding to the policy, the Dean of FIS encourages that the implementation of academic activities continue to run well, and that is the form of the initial online thesis examination conducted today (03/23/2020). The online thesis examination is conducted from the home of each examiner lecturer and students and moderated by the Chairperson of the Anthropology Study Program Dr. Rosramadhana, M.Sc in the office of the Head of the Faculty of Anthropology Education 2nd floor.
This online thesis examination was witnessed by UNIMED Rector Dr. Syamsul Gultom, SKM., M. Kes., Dean of FIS Dra. Nurmala Berutu, M.Pd., Deputy Dean I of FIS Dr. Tappil Rambe, S.Pd., M.Sc., Vice Dean III of FIS Dr. Erond Litno Damanik, M.Sc and Ka. Daniel H.P. Anthropology Education Lab Simanjuntak, S. Sos., M.Pd, and several FIS academic staff.
Prosposal seminar and online thesis examination at FIS were conducted for 2 days on the first day (03/23/2020) lecturers and students of the Anthropology Education Study Program conducting online thesis examinations were 1. UNIMED Rector Dr. Syamsul Gultom, after watching the students finish their thesis examination presentation, expressed their appreciation to the lecturers of Study Program. Anthropology, because they have done this online thesis examination. “I am very grateful to FIS UNIMED for its policy in supporting the prevention of the spread of COVID 19 by conducting a thesis examination online. Academic activities at Unimed must continue to run optimally, must not be stopped, whatever the reason, because we do not want students to be harmed. Current conditions that do not support academic activities run well due to the prevention of Covid-19, we must respond wisely and wisely. Hopefully this good thing can be followed by all members of the community, to continue to carry out their duties and functionaries and lecturers. Keep doing the seminar proposal seminar, compliment exam, thesis examination, thesis and dissertation if all the requirements are met. If it is not possible to be carried out as usual on campus, the exam can be conducted online. Our network facilities on campus are sufficient. “Said the Chancellor.
Dean of FIS Dra. Nurmala Berutu, M.Pd, thanked the Rector who was present to watch the thesis examination online at FIS. We at FIS will continue our commitment to carry out our duties and responsibilities in academic activities. We continue to monitor optimally so that the lecture process must continue to run well. Proposal seminars, compliment exams, thesis exams must also be carried out either manually in the office or online. We are sure that all Unimed lecturers and students will be able to carry out their final exam online.
