MEDAN – Pusan National University Korea cooperated with Medan State University (UNIMED) and the University of North Sumatra (USU) by signing a cooperation agreement in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The signing took place by the Rector Dr. Syamsul Gultom, SKM, M Kes, USU Chancellor Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, SH, M Hum, represented by USU Vice Chancellor IV for Information, Planning and Development Prof. Dr. Ir Bustami Syam, MSME and President of Pusan National University represented by Prof. Wonsub Chung, Ph. D. in the Academic Senate Meeting Room, USU Central Administration Bureau Building, 2nd floor Medan, Friday (1/24).
Also present at the event, Vice Rector I Dr. Restu, MS., Vice Rector III Prof. Dr. Sahat Siagian, M.Pd., Vice Rector IV Prof. Manihar Situmorang, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FBS, Dean of FT, Expert Staff of Vice Rector IV and several Unimed lecturers. Also present were the Chancellor of the Catholic University of Santo Thomas, the Chancellor of the University of Prima Indonesia, the Heads of Culture and Tourism Offices from 7 districts in the Lake Toba region, namely Dairi, Humbang Hasundutan, Karo, Samosir, Simalungun, North Tapanuli and Toba Samosir.
In his remarks, the Rector of Unimed Dr. Syamsul Gultom, SKM, M. Kes. Appreciating this event, he also expressed his gratitude to Pusan National University for their confidence in building cooperation with UNIMED and USU. According to him, the implementation of the MoU and the MoA can support the Government’s program in the development of cultural development, in the case of Cultural Property Management and Cultural Value Development in North Sumatra. This collaboration is expected to be a bridge for the institutions involved, both Medan State University, North Sumatra University, and the Korean Traditional Custome Research Institute of Pusan University, to explore the cultural potential that exists in both countries, introduce it widely and make it one of the advantages especially in the fields of education, culture and tourism. He said, Indonesia and Korea were two countries that each had their own traditions and cultural building elements. The variety is also diverse, ranging from dance, singing, and others.
While Prof. Wonsub Chung, Ph. D, from Pusan National University, expressed his gratitude for the implementation of the MoU today, and expressed his readiness to further discuss what matters were undertaken to follow up on the signing of the collaboration.
