MEDAN – The UNIMED Family Welfare Education (PKK) Department displays the work of its students in the 2019 PKK FASHION & BEAUTY YEAR with the theme PHILOFESTRA (Philosophy, Fantasy, Fashion Tradition).This event was held by the 2015 Class of Fashion and Makeup Study Program held at the North Atrium Plaza Medan Fair, Thursday (04/25).
he event was attended by Deputy Dean II FT Dr. Eka Daryanto, MT., Deputy Dean III FT Dr. Nathanael Sitanggang, M.Pd., Chair of the PKK Department Dr. Dina Ampera, M.Sc., along with lecturers from the Unimed PKK department.
In this performance, the Fashion Education Study Program raised the cultural concepts of 7 North Sumatra ethnic groups are Batak Toba, Dairi, Karo, Mandailing, Melayu, Nias and Simalungun. While the Makeup Study Program presents innovative works that are lifted from the story of Walt Disney that are innovated on face, body and hair makeup.
In the opening ceremony, the Dean of FT Prof. Dr. Harun Sitompul, M.Pd. conveying his appreciation, “I really appreciate this activity which has intensely made classroom learning an event that has been set as an annual agenda. By holding PHILOFESTRA performances, we can assess and see first hand the results of the pride made by original students of the Faculty of Engineering, fashion and makeup study programs that can enter the global industrial world”.
“This event has become one of the pride of the Faculty of Engineering. With this performance, it can open as much opportunities as possible for the development of learning involving industry and professionals. It is hoped that with this activity, students will not be awkward when entering the industry or the world of work,” said Prof. Harun.
Chairman of the PKK department Unimed Dr. Dina Ampera, M.Sc., said that this activity was the final project of the course as well as a place to pour students’ creativity in exploring local culture that had been embedded in the lives of the people of North Sumatra.
With the fashion show held, it can inspire and add insight not only for students but also for the people who come to watch about local wisdom and typical weaving from North Sumatra.
