MEDAN (Unimed) – One of the lecturers of FIK Unimed Dr. Novita, M.Pd as Head Coach of Indonesian Wushu Athlete Lindswell Kwok and Juwita Niza Wasni successfully let two students get Gold Medal and Silver Medal at World Wushu Championship in Russia which was held on 28 September to 3 October 2017.
In the wushu world championships are Dr. Novita managed to collect the highest score of 9.67 and won the gold medal. At the new SEA Games in 2017 held in Malaysia also athletes Medan, North Sumatra, also won the gold medal. At the 14th World Wushu Championship in Russia followed by 60 countries, Indonesia has 14 athletes consisting of eight taolu athletes and six Sanda (tarung) athletes.
Through video call Dr. Novita, M.Pd, told Unimed Public Relation, I am very glad, proud and grateful for the achievement of my students because it has succeeded the great name of Indonesia in world championship wushu event which took place in Russia. “I am proud and grateful to be able to guide my students to win gold and silver medals, and to maintain a golden tradition in the world’s wushu branch”.
Delivering a student athlete to a gold and silver medal at this world championship will be an experience and lesson for me and will be passed on to FIKUnimed students in order to perform at national and world championships. At once can follow in the footsteps and replace this wushu athlete to excel in the world championships. I’m sure FIK Unimed students can certainly prove that Unimed’s proud achievement in various sports championships in the world.
Dr. Budi Valianto, M.Pd, Dean of FIK Unimed, said he was proud and grateful that one of the lecturers of FIK can bring his students to achieve gold and silver medal achievements at the world-class wushu championship in Russia. Surely this achievement can not be separated from the guidance and sense of one of our lecturers. Novita, M.Pd as their head coach. We FIKI civitas hope after returning to Indonesia Novita’s mother can share experiences and insight to other FIK lecturers and students to do not hesitate in stepping into a national athlete who brought the name of the country in the world championship. According to it, there is nothing we can not accomplish, if we have the determination, will and perseverance in training ourselves to be professional athletes, he said.
Prof. Syawal Gultom, Unimed Rector also congratulated and took pride in one of Unimed’s lecturers participated in delivering his students won gold medals and peacock in the world wushu championship in Russia. Unimed name is attached to Dr. bu Novita, because he is a permanent lecturer of FIK Unimed, so we civitas Unimed congratulate and succeed to him for bringing big name of Indonesia in wushu world championship. We hope that this achievement will encourage the enthusiasm of all Unimed lecturers and students to keep working hard and learn smart to be able to excel in various academic, sports and other activities.
